US Department of the Treasury Mulls Commemorative $1 Trump Coin Featuring ‘Fight, Fight, Fight’ Phrase

In honor of the 250th anniversary of US independence, the Treasury is contemplating the minting of a $1 coin depicting Donald Trump with a raised fist under an US flag and the words “fight, fight, fight”.

Symbolic Link

This inscription directly references what Trump shouted following escaping an assassination effort several months before he won a return to the Oval Office.

Government Announcement

US Treasurer Beach publicly revealed a draft design of the coin on this week via X, saying: “No fake news here. These designs celebrating America’s 250th birthday and [Trump] are authentic.”

The social media post – which amplified another account reacting to the proposed design – mentioned that Beach looked “excited to reveal additional details” after the end of the partial government shutdown that commenced after midnight Wednesday when opposition lawmakers insisting on changes on healthcare and other spending priorities withheld the votes necessary to pass a Republican-backed budget proposal.

Legislative History

As highlighted, in 2020, at the close of his initial term, Trump approved cross-party law empowering the treasury secretary to issue $1 coins during the year 2026 that are “representative of the United States 250th anniversary”.

Features Components

One side of the coin on whose proposed design Beach remarked this week showed Trump’s likeness alongside “Liberty”, “Our Trust in God”, and “from 1776 to 2026”.

The reverse evoked the assassination attempt at a public gathering in Pennsylvania last year, when law enforcement said a gunman harmed Trump’s hearing and hurt two others before being killed by the US Secret Service.

Trump lifted his fist after the shooting – one of two efforts on his life for him as he successfully ran for a return to the White House in 2024 – and shouted, “Fight, Fight, Fight!” with an national banner visible nearby.

Department Comment

A response from a department official indicated that the concept which Beach’s X post discussed was not the “final $1 coin design”. But the statement emphasized that “this concept reflects well the persistent ethos of our country and democratic system, even in the face of immense obstacles”.

Political Backdrop

Trump’s approval rating on average has plummeted to unfavorable numbers, as his second administration has slashed health coverage and nutrition assistance that benefits the needy, while also implementing trade duties that preceded a noted rise in everyday expenses.

Among other things, the White House has also dispatched US soldiers into the streets of various municipalities, eliminated roughly $500 million in funding for immunizations such as the ones that helped end the Covid pandemic, and struggled to contain a controversy over his former association with notorious offender Jeffrey Epstein.
