Viktor Gyokeres joined the Gunners from Sporting during the offseason

Arsenal forward Viktor Gyokeres was left out from Graham Potter's initial Swedish national squad, while Reds forward Alexander Isak has earned inclusion

The Arsenal forward is due to undergo more medical tests this week amid fears of a hamstring injury in Arsenal's Premier League win against the Clarets last weekend

The 27-year-old sat out the Gunners' Champions League success against the Czech side on Tuesday

Alexander Isak Returns

The Liverpool striker, who has been sidelined since late October because of a groin problem, made the squad for World Cup qualifying matches against the Swiss team (November 15th) and Slovenia (18 November)

Additional England-based Call-ups

  • Tottenham playmaker Lucas Bergvall, currently rehabilitating from concussion
  • Newcastle wide player the Swedish international

These players were included in the Premier League players named by former Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham manager the new Swedish coach

Potter's Role

The English manager was appointed the Swedish federation initially on a short-term basis in late October, under four weeks after he was dismissed from West Ham

Former coach Jon Dahl Tomasson was sacked after the national team's setback against Kosovo in mid-October, an outcome that made automatic qualification in Group B unattainable

Current Position

Sweden are currently last place in their qualifying group having just one point in their opening four games

Even if they don't manage to finish second, they may yet take part in the secondary qualification because of their results in the latest UEFA competition
