The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight season. The twenty-seven-year-old won four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – including successfully defending the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles triumph. A Season of Consistency Across the season, Sabalenka reached a tour-best nine finals, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final. The Belarusian also claimed victory at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the whole season as the world number one, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year. In July, she achieved the status of being the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015. Record-Breaking Numbers Sabalenka finished the competitive year with a 63-12 win-loss record, and picked up a record eleven million pounds in tournament winnings. She earned almost eighty percent of the votes cast by global tennis journalists. Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a higher level". Additional WTA Award Winners Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking 13-month break after the birth of her daughter and returning to the sport earlier this season. Newcomer of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after beginning the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and soaring to the eighteenth spot. Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after capturing their second Grand Slam title as a pair. Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after reaching five finals. Recently, Carlos Alcaraz secured three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
