Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the US has remained silent.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," the statement continued.

It said debris fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
