🔗 Share this article Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients Prosecutors have stated that a ex- physician stands accused of committing assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care. Details of the Serious Charges The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021. A deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.” Scope of the Investigation These allegations follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital. The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January. Breakdown of Charges The charging documents said the forty-five charges comprise: Fifteen counts of sexual assault. Seventeen counts of assault by penetration. 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13. Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen. 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
